Ch. J. B Collin-Mezin

Anno 1922. Charles Jean Baptiste Collin-Mezin (1841-1923) was a French maker of violins, violas, cellos, basses and bows. He was the Officier de L'Academie des Beaux-Arts and won gold and silver medals at the Paris Exhibitions in 1878, 1889 and 1900. He was the son of luthier C.L. Collin, and father of Charles Collin-Mezin, Jr., also a luthier. His designs followed in the tradition of the famous Italian schools Stradivarius, Guarnerius, and Amati, although he developed his own unique varnish. His instruments are also characterized by a powerful and unusually brilliant tone. Please call for detail information.

Amédée Dieudonné

Sold. Violn by Amedee Dieudonne, Violin maker (1890 -1960). He established himself as luthier at Mirecourt in 1924 and specializing in the copies of the cremona masters. Bohuslav Lantner

Anno 1905. Bohuslav Lantner was born in 1862 and worked in several German cities. Established at Prague in 1891. Modelling after Stradivarius and Guarnerius. Early instruments have spirit varnish and later, a handsome red brown of soft texture. Excellent tone, fairly robust and undeniably mellowish. Please call for detail information.

Heinrich Heberlein Jr.

Anno 1890. From the workshop of and labeled Heinrich Theodore Heberlein Jr. (1843-1910) was a German violin maker. The Heberlein workshop was located in Markneukirchen. Heberlein was renowned for the excellent quality of his instruments and was awarded multiple honours. Heberlein was expecially known for his use of varnish to achieve and artist effect, the quality of his wood, and the verisimilitude of his imitations of old masters, such as Stradivarius. Nicolas Caussin

The Caussin family emerged in Paris in the middle of the nineteenth century, producing high quality antiqued imitation of older instruments. Nicolas Caussin was the older son of violin maker Francois Caussin, he learned his craft with his father. Nicolas Caussin established his own workshop in Paris. Please call for detail information.

Ernst Heinrich Roth

Violin labeled Ernst Heinrich Roth, Markneukirchen 1935. Ernst Heinrich Roth was a German luthier (1877-1948) and master of a large and successful violin-making workshop in Markneukirchen. He was the most important and distinguished figure in whole dynasty of Roth luthiers active in Germany. Sold.

Thomas Kennedy

Thomas Kennedy was British violin maker (1784-1870). A student of William Forster, Kennedy opened his own workshop and was a prolific maker making nearly 2000 instruments. This violin with the later varnish, a thin dark and textured is superby crafted with a good projection and warm sound.Signed above the tailpin. ca 1850.

Georges Mougenot was born in Mirecourt, France in 1843 where he was apprenticed to George Deroux and after working for various makers went to Brussels where he settled for the rest of his life, establishing a workshop of the highest standard and ever increasing popularity. John Juzek was a prolific and consistently capable violin maker. John Juzek worked in Prague in the early 20th century. His violins and violas are often a Guarneri with a Stradivari scroll and slightly elongated f-holes. They are among the highest quality Czech instruments and possess a bright and powerful tone. Raffaele Calace

Raffaele Calace was an Italian luthier (1863-1934) and worked in Naples from 1900. Best known as a professional mandolinist and composer, but also made various plucked and violin family instruments and is credited with perfecting the design of the large Neapolitan mandolin. He is said to have made a violin for Mussolini and received several gold medals for his work. Please call for detail information.

Alfred Lanini

A. Lanini stamped to the endpin and violin inside was labeled Alfred Lanini, San Jose, California 1944. Alfred Lanini was born in the US and studied with Riccardo Antoniazzi in Milan. In 1917, Lanini opened his own shop in San Francisco, before relocating six months later to San Jose, where he worked until his death in 1956.

Sergio Peresson, anno 1982

SOLD. Sergio Peresson was an Italian-born violin maker (1913-1991). He moved to Venezuela in 1947 where he made new instruments and was reapirer to the Venezuelan Symphony Orchestra. In the early 1960s, he moved to Philadelphia and worked for the firm of William Moennig & Son between 1963 and 1971. In 1971, he moved to Haddenfield and continued to make instruments until his death in 1991. Please call for detail information.

Successor to Blanchard's business at Lyons, 1913 and also had a workshop and assistant at Paris, 1915. Principal maker to the Conservatoire at Lyons, and the Symphony Orchestras. Died 1944.
